EULALIA VALLDOSERA

Born in Vilafranca del Penedes in Barcelona, Spain in 1963. Lives and works in Barcelona.

Since 1991 Eulalia Valldosera has been showing extensively both in Spain and abroad. Her most recent show in Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal in 1999 was one of the her most comprehensive solo exhibitions.

"Starting with "Love is sweeter than wine" (1993), a light installation for three different rooms, Valldosera has continued to explore sentiments through the use of light projected onto objects alluding to the domestic sphere, hygiene, pharmaceutical products and body care, as well as the artistic field itself. The love referred to in the title is absent, or at most materialised in rotating objects such as a half-full glass of red wine which turns on a record turntable from which no sounds emerges.

Impossibility, failure and bitterness are the constant themes which are also exuded by 'Relaciones' in which Valldosera once again uses slide projectors, spitting out images of interiors in which, in different attitudes and poses, men and women recreate their weaknesses and their need for contact, for warmth, in a world of shadows and reflections where nothing seems definite or real."1
